When you are having a party, there are a variety of factors to take into consideration when you are trying to select beverages. What you offer to drink will be very different at Christmastime than in the summer, or if your party is late morning versus early evening. Where your party is located will also help you determine what to serve, as will the type of tone you want to set.

Something for everyone:
It is important when having a party to include everyone’s drink taste and to have something available for all likes and dislikes. This does not mean that you need to offer every beverage known to man or that you need to have a full bar available. However, you might want to have on hand a white wine, a red wine, beer and a couple of hard liquor options, or a mixed drink like pitchers of margaritas or martinis. Be sure to keep a variety of mixes on hand, as well as non-alcoholic options for those who don’t want to drink alcohol.

A formal affair:
If you are striving for a more formal tone, and are perhaps having a sit-down meal, then pre-dinner cocktails are in order. On the table you may have just a bottle or red wine and a bottle of white wine per each 4 guests. This gives your guests the choice. If you have help with serving, they may want to keep an eye on empty bottles and replace them as needed. Another great touch is an after dinner wine or a dessert wine. These wines can be enjoyed on their own or with a dessert, just be careful in matching the dessert wine to the dessert.

Something celebratory:
If you are celebrating a new job, an engagement, a wedding, a new baby, retirement or anything else, then your only choice is champagne or a sparkling wine. Many people find champagne too dry, therefore the sweeter sparkling wines make a great replacement and you still get the fun of the exploding cork. So lift your glass high and make a toast with some bubbly. It’s the perfect way to celebrate.

Fun in the Sun:
If your party is an outdoor one, like 4th of July or Cinco de Mayo, or even just an old-fashioned cookout, there are so many options for beverages. Having something for everyone is essential. Offering a pre-mixed fruity light drink will be a hit definitely. Mix up a batch of sangria with some red wine and fruit or a wine punch to dip into and you’ll have happy partygoers! Make sure you keep your summer party drinks cool for your guests and have lots on hand, especially if you are outside. Another consideration in hot weather is to make sure your guests avoid heat stroke, so keep lots of water on hand also to hand out, maybe alternating it with the alcoholic beverages.

Relaxation beverages contain a proprietary blend of herbal extracts, vitamins and natural flavors that promotes a healthy immune system. Users of such drinks report a subtle sense of calm and an improved mood with each use. Relaxation shots are available in both original formula for regular daytime use, and P.M. formulas for nighttime use. Both types of relaxation drinks are sugar free, calorie free and carbohydrate free for a healthy dietary supplement that can help to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.

Coffee, tea, soft drinks and sports drinks are loaded with high levels of sucrose, fructose, caffeine and other sweeteners that combine to jump start the human body. Many people opt for coffee or tea in the morning to help them get moving but continued use of these drinks throughout the day will lead to fatigue, stress, anxiety and a frazzled nervous system.

Relaxation shots do not contain any caffeine or sugar so the shot you are drinking is free of the ingredients that cause many people to become jittery and tense. Not everyone reacts to sugar and caffeine the same but studies show that even small amounts can cause some people to have panic attacks, dizzy spells and in some rare cases an increased heart rate.

By avoiding the common “energy” ingredients relaxation drinks are able to provide consumers with an alternative to the rush solution used to combat tiredness and lack of focus. These beverages combines herbal extracts, vitamins and natural flavors in a soothing green tea flavor that replaces the need for speed with a relaxing, calm mood that lets people get through their busy afternoons with a clear focus and manageable stress levels.

In some ways relaxation beverages work by being the anti-coffee or anti-sugar drink. So many people are stuck in the pattern of adding more caffeine and sugar to their bodies when in fact what they really need is a reduced amount of stimulants to calm the body down. Relaxation drinks are marketed to offer an alternative drink remedy for stress and fatigue.

Energy Drinks and New Age Beverages are the hot topics not only in products and sales or in the beverage industry but also in the Investment Community.

Many Energy Drinks and New Age Beverage companies are appearing every day and getting funded to launch their projects.

Vitamin Water sold for a few Billion dollars, 4.1 to be precise. Now everyone is jumping into the industry.1 Billion Dollars, individuals, investors and companies want to go into the “New Age Beverages”.

So what exactly are New Age Beverages? New Age Beverages is a new way of seeing “modern beverages” including functional beverages and fashionable drinks. This new “category” is growing and changing. Some time ago you only found Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar and maybe Vitaminwater as part of New Age Beverage. Now it has gone global, and crazy. Now the category has evolved and you can include enhanced water, tea’s, diet drinks, iced coffee and really, any new drink. Every beverage company want’s to be associated with the “New Age” category because not just because it’s sexier but because the category is growing quicker and investors are looking at it up close.

You have to realize that Vitamin Water is not the first company to get big cash for their brand. There are beverage companies being funded every day, and more being bought and sold from large companies. Use the “big boys” as examples. Most of them started out with very small companies and a big idea.

You see many companies in the news being funded, many new entrepreneurs, investors, actors, signers, sports stars launching products.

Other companies like Reeds Beverage, Who’s Your Daddy, Jones Soda and Hensen with Monster Energy Drink access funding through the public markets. These and many others are public companies traded in the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ or the OTC (Over the Counter).

I get a lot of calls from entrepreneurs starting their energy drinks and many more from investors looking to invest in companies or performing due diligence. I get hundreds of calls every month from Energy Drink or other beverage companies or just people wanting to start their beverage. The industry is growing and the category is growing even faster.

Why are these drinks growing at 50% per year or more? Why do we see so many waters, energy drinks, hydrating products, etc. on the market today? The answer is easy. Consumers are demanding more and more drinks. They want drinks for every occasion or part of the day. They want organic drinks, sugary drinks, healthy drinks and every type of drink to fit their personality, and style.

Why is everyone going into this new segment? Simple, there is money to be made. This is one of the characteristics that are shared all New Age Beverages, they all have high profit margins. How high are the margins? Well, you can make up to $24 Gross Profit per case. Yes, this is for one case. Imagine selling just one truckload of beverages or around 1,600 cases with this profit. Could you see selling truckloads and truckloads per month!

++Some advice before you start your venture:++

-Don’t just focus on the drink, focus on the whole package (I get a lot of phone calls and emails telling me they have a better tasting drink than Rockstar, Red Bull and Monster Energy Drink).

Don’t forget, get distribution first and promotion second. Don’t fall into spending money with no sales. What is the No. mistake I hear Energy Drink companies make? Promotions before Distribution. Remember, you have to concentrate on your Distributor and Retail Packages. Sell first, then push product off the shelves.

-Learn your Financial. Figure out how much it takes to start and sell your new drink before you go and produce 5,000 cases.
