You’ll need to make the cookies first, and then manage to hold off eating enough of them to turn them into a dessert…Easy cookie recipe

To make simple double-choc cookies, you will need:

1.5 cups chocolate chips (or a bar of chocolate smashed to pieces with a rolling pin)
2 cups sugar
One third of a cup of cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla essence (optional – it’s nice but not critical if you don’t have any)
2 eggs

Mix all of the ingredients together, making sure everything is well combined. Pre-heat the oven to 320 degrees. Grease a baking tray, then spoon the cookie mixture onto it.

The cookies should be done within about 15 minutes, but check them at regular intervals and turn the tray if they are cooking unevenly. Once they are done, leave them to cool for a few minutes on the tray and then remove them with a spatula and place them on a rack to cool properly. The cookies will be at their most tasty at this point, warm and slightly soft, with melted chocolate in the middle – perfect with a cup of good coffee.

Easy dessert recipe

If you have a few of these cookies left over, you can make a quick and extremely easy dessert recipe with them. There are many variations on this, so check what you have in the cupboards and fridge. You won’t need all of the ingredients here – this is just a suggestion, and you can change it according to taste and availability.

You’ll need some or all of the following:

    Cookies
Plain yoghurt
Custard
Ice cream (any flavor, but vanilla or chocolate is probably best)
Mixed berries – these can be bought frozen
Cream
Chocolate shavings

Start by crumbling the cookies into a small bowl or, better still, the bottom of a wine glass. Heat the berries in a pan or the microwave, and pour them over the cookies while still hot. Spoon yoghurt, custard or ice cream – or any combination of these – over the cookies and berries. Top with cream and chocolate shavings.

This is a really simple but very classy-looking dessert. One of the real attraction is the contrasts: the hot/cold of the berries and the ice cream, the hard chocolate chips and the soft cookie and yoghurt. It’s also a great way to use leftovers.

When you are having a party, there are a variety of factors to take into consideration when you are trying to select beverages. What you offer to drink will be very different at Christmastime than in the summer, or if your party is late morning versus early evening. Where your party is located will also help you determine what to serve, as will the type of tone you want to set.

Something for everyone:
It is important when having a party to include everyone’s drink taste and to have something available for all likes and dislikes. This does not mean that you need to offer every beverage known to man or that you need to have a full bar available. However, you might want to have on hand a white wine, a red wine, beer and a couple of hard liquor options, or a mixed drink like pitchers of margaritas or martinis. Be sure to keep a variety of mixes on hand, as well as non-alcoholic options for those who don’t want to drink alcohol.

A formal affair:
If you are striving for a more formal tone, and are perhaps having a sit-down meal, then pre-dinner cocktails are in order. On the table you may have just a bottle or red wine and a bottle of white wine per each 4 guests. This gives your guests the choice. If you have help with serving, they may want to keep an eye on empty bottles and replace them as needed. Another great touch is an after dinner wine or a dessert wine. These wines can be enjoyed on their own or with a dessert, just be careful in matching the dessert wine to the dessert.

Something celebratory:
If you are celebrating a new job, an engagement, a wedding, a new baby, retirement or anything else, then your only choice is champagne or a sparkling wine. Many people find champagne too dry, therefore the sweeter sparkling wines make a great replacement and you still get the fun of the exploding cork. So lift your glass high and make a toast with some bubbly. It’s the perfect way to celebrate.

Fun in the Sun:
If your party is an outdoor one, like 4th of July or Cinco de Mayo, or even just an old-fashioned cookout, there are so many options for beverages. Having something for everyone is essential. Offering a pre-mixed fruity light drink will be a hit definitely. Mix up a batch of sangria with some red wine and fruit or a wine punch to dip into and you’ll have happy partygoers! Make sure you keep your summer party drinks cool for your guests and have lots on hand, especially if you are outside. Another consideration in hot weather is to make sure your guests avoid heat stroke, so keep lots of water on hand also to hand out, maybe alternating it with the alcoholic beverages.

Recipe Method:

Grease your cake tin lightly with butter, then line your cake tin on the bottom with a piece of baking parchment or grease-proof paper cut to the right size. Then cut out a wide strip of baking parchment that will line all around the sides of the tin and also stick out over the top of the tin by a good 10cm.

Pre-heat your oven to 160C

In a very large mixing bowl soften the butter and then cream the butter and sugar together before adding in and beating the eggs one at a time. Once everything is fully mixed stir in the black treacle.

Then sift in the flour and stir in the ground almonds. Add the milk, vanilla extract and stir in the dried fruit, candied peel and lemon zest.

Thoroughly mix all of these cake batter ingredients together, if a little dry, add in some more milk – then put the cake mixture into the prepared tin and bake in the oven at 160C for 1 hour. After 1 hour test the cake by pushing a metal skewer into the center of the cake to see if it comes out clean and hot, it might need 30 to 40 minutes longer.

All agri universities must start agro entrepreneur’s courses! One of the unsung heroes of the Indian agricultural sector is the minister for food processing, namely, Mr.Subodh Kant Sahay. For one reason or other, he or his ministry is not hitting the news headlines! It is high time he does takes his role seriously and gets all that is within his powers to get his ministry’s work noticed by the public. Why the food processing ministry is not taken notice of? See what his ministry’s potential is. India has over 1.10 billion consumers and there is a fast growing high income earning middle class. There is a largely untapped domestic market of 1,000 million consumers for the food processing sector. 200 million middle class, urban based and otherwise, high income earning workers and professions and they are expected to shift to processed foods in one form or other ,given the fact there is a faster urbanisation of life and lifestyle for these vast millions of consumers.

I first had this fiery, deeply flavorful chicken dish as a friend’s home along with dosas and ever since hooked to it. I was told it’s a traditional Chettinad chicken curry and that there are quite a few variations to this recipe. In today’s version, chicken is simmered in coconut milk and gets its unique flavor from a blend of quite a few spices like fennel seeds, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, pepper corns, cardamoms and cumin to name a few.

Quite a bit of preparation goes into the making of this curry and there is no short cut method and if you have the time and the ingredients on hand, only then venture to prepare and please don’t compromise with the ingredients if you want that authentic chicken curry flavor.
